Alessia Cara

In 2015 at 19 she published her first debut single Here. The track received praise from listeners and music critics. The song reached the top spot in both Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named the hit one of the Best Songs in 2015. In that same year she dropped her debut album Know It All with the third single Scars to Your Beautiful being the first of five tracks that peaked at Billboard charts, including The Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. The track is special since, in light of the Rap-Up interview that she conducted, many of her listeners were able to connect to her experiences of finding love for themselves, and rethinking their beliefs about her. Cara's songs contain messages of love, self-love and mental health. The music she sings is reflective of her personal struggle in dealing with anxiety and depression. According to Reuters' interview, she's said that her album was half turbulent but half perfected. Therapy has helped her develop and encourages other artists to follow the same path. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11, 1996. In 2010, her parents bought her a new guitar that she was able to use to discover her love for music. She began to cover her favourite songs at age 13, to prove to everyone that she was a talented musician and the courage necessary to be a singer. Sweater Weather is among those covers that led to being discovered to be signed by EP Entertainment. This record label gave her the opportunity to create the songs she wrote herself.
