The singer released her debut single Here in 2015 when she was 19 years old. The single garnered a lot of acclaim and was well received both by critics and listeners. The track made it to the top 19 in both the Billboard Hot 100 in Canada and on the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named the track one of the top Songs of 2015. The same year, she released her debut album Know It All with the third song Scars to Your Beautiful being one of the five original songs that peaked at Billboard charts, including The Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. This track was special due to her interview with Rap-Up that she conducted, many of the listeners could connect to her experiences of finding love for themselves, as well as doubting herself. Cara includes messages of kindness and loving yourself in her songs. Her music is a reflection of her personal struggle in dealing with anxiety and depression. When she spoke to Reuters, she said that her album was "half tumultuous" as well as "half complete". People have told her that she experienced growth during therapy. When she was 10 years old, her parents gifted her a guitar that became the starting point of her musical passion.
