Scars to Your Beautiful is one of the five tracks that were the first to reach Billboard's chart. The track is special since, in light of her Rap-Up interview she did with the listeners could identify with her journey of finding love for themselves, and doubting her. Cara includes messages of compassion and self-love into her music. The inspiration for her music is drawn from her own personal journey as she has struggled with mental health issues and insomnia. According to an Reuters interview, the album is described as half tumultuous half perfected. She says she grew by therapy and is adamant about encouraging anyone else to seek out help when they need it. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11th, 1996. Her first guitar was purchased by her parents after she turned 10 which ignited her passion for music. At 13 years old, she started covering her most loved songs on YouTube a major media platform to show the world that she had the talents and determination to develop into an artist. One of the songs Sweater Weather ended up getting her attention by a record label called EP Entertainment which allowed her to write and create songs.
