The singer released her debut single, Here in 2015 at the age of 19 years old. The song was widely acclaimed by both critics and the public. It peaked at number 19 on both the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named the track one of the top Songs in 2015. The same year, she released her debut album Know It All with the third track Scars to Your Beautiful being one of five original tracks that peaked at Billboard charts including The Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. According to an interview Cara gave with Rap Up, this song held a lot in the minds of many people listening who were drawn to her tale of accepting and loving your self. Cara is well-known for her ability to incorporate songs about mental health, kindness and self-love into her songs. Her inspiration for her music is derived from her own struggle in overcoming mental health issues and insomnia. In an interview with Reuters, she described her album as "half turbulent" as well as "half flawless". She found that therapy has helped her develop and encourages others to do the same. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11th, 1996. Her parents gifted her with their first guitar when she was just 10 years old. That was her first step in music. In 2013, she covered some of her most loved songs on YouTube the most popular platform for media. This was to demonstrate that she had the talent and confidence to become an artist. In fact, one of her cover songs Sweater Weather became the track which got her attention by EP Entertainment. They allowed her to compose and create her own music.
